GPX File Attachment

by PellucidWombat » Mon Mar 21, 2011 10:23 am

I naively thought that I could conveniently attach a Google Earth .kmz file to my trip report using this. It seems to not be working properly, but I can't remove it!

Any help?

You need to convert to GPX format (google allows that as far as I recall). Then try uploading again.

You need a special converter to do that (.kml to .gpx), but with a quick search I found some free converters online.

Thanks!

Trust me, your not the only one who noticed. A while ago I put up a suggestion for allowing kml/kmz files which I'm sure could work with the current map system, but I deleted my post because I knew Matt had a lot on his hands. 8)

Is there a way to delete the file? I accidentally attached the signature image to the GPX category for this page.

Currently it seems like once you select a file, you're stuck having something in the gpx category.

You could always just keep the file on google earth itself and link it form there perhaps. Like I have done here:

Anyone know? Maybe I'm the only one with this problem, or maybe I'm just ignorant, but I really would like to get rid of this file if posible.

You know that's actually a good point. I have no idea of how to delete it. Over riding it is easy... that's all I can think of for now. :ugeek:
