Dispersed Camping up to 2.5 hours from Boulder

by Michele » Fri Jun 03, 2011 6:26 pm

I'm hoping to spend one night in the Sportsmobile somewhere beautiful over the weekend, somewhere that is no more than 2.5 hours drive from Boulder. Just need to get away from things even if only for a couple days! I know a few great places but they are too far away. Any ideas for dispersed camping spots suitable for an overnighter from Boulder?

I was hoping for something a little more specific than that, but thanks anyhow.

There was some nice dry camping in Lost Creek Wilderness last week, and if you have a 4 wheel drive you can probably get to somewhat remote low elevation wildernesses in the front range.

here's a CO NF/Wilderness map that you can't find on fs.fed anymore: http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/recreation/map/ ... ndex.shtml

I live up in Fort Collins, but there's a ton of stuff within 1.5 hours of here, as well. It's honestly really hard to give you suggestions without you saying something along the lines of what you're looking for, particularly this time of year. Snow and road conditions dictate what a lot of places are going to be like...
