So when a person dies, their memory is reduced to a number ???

I've ALWAYS been an advocate for Free Choice, but I've always chosen to read SIGNS before making my final move.

Guess there's a reason for everything ... sad.

That's pretty insensitive. Maybe you didn't mean it quite like that, but accidents happen. Someone died. Let's not make light of it.

Agree with fatdad. As long as this kid was not snorkeling above the Nevada fall to take a cool photo...

I've never been to Disneyland. I haven't been to Heaven, either ...

I suspect there's more to this story than the brief SF Gate story suggests, though I haven't found it yet. I ran the Mist Trail up, and mostly down as part of my 4 Mile Trail loop (Valley –> GP –> Illilouete –> Nevada Fall –> Mist –> Happy Isles) many, many times during the early 80's, and never even came close to slipping on its continually wet rock stairs. Quite the year for Yosemite.

Any info on the specifics of this? Pretty hard to die on the Mist Trail in August if you are being remotely cautious.

This just an unfortunate slip with a bad landing or was there something else involved?

Regardless of when a climber/hiker falls and dies and there is stupidty involved, it's still sad. Personally I don't think name calling is proper, you might have a stupid or ill informed person but you also have family members that are affected by the tragic event. It's ALWAYS a sad situation, regardless.
