Server speed

I will say it again, if someone can find me the talent, one employee, one programmer, full time, 2 yr commitment to try and turn it into a career, the money is no issue. It is a the unique combination of someone who is talented and capable in programming, thus hopefully already successfully employed, willing to risk, in exchange for a guaranteed two year deal, his/her current employment for an opportunity to be a programmer in the outdoor recreational industry, trade shows, outdoor activities, the works. Will be a summitpost type format, but on steroids to pay for itself and attract more participation. Money is not the issue, it is already accounted for. Finding the right person to make it happen, is. Kind of like the Facebook story. One young man had the insight to make it happen. He knew how and when to delegate.

Now this is making more sense, for a second I thought people were posting like crazy. :lol:

But really, I'm not happy to hear that something will be done in the future. That's what many of us wanted to hear, even if its not this second.

Its just an observation, I make no conclusion.

But here's another observation. I couldn't figure out what the server speed complaint was. I usually only log in to reply to a thread, so most of the time I'm not logged in. When I logged in to post this, I did notice the speed was slow. So is server speed problem only a problem if you're logged in?

Interesting.

The speed is faster when not logged in, though not up to standards elsewhere on the internet.

Unfortunately, you need to be logged in to vote, post, and most importantly to develop and add content.

Matt, just to tell you my personal observation. For me it does not matter when I login, mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, it's horribly slow all the time.

Like Josh, I think most of us feel the same way. This has been going on for an extended period of time, is only getting worse, and most would like to see something done promptly.

I've found away around the slowness of this site;
I sign in and then start dinner,
I come back after making the salad and then click on forums,
Then I start the "Q" and season the steaks,
Then I come and click on the forum category,
Then I start the boiling water for the rice, add the rice and...
I click on the thread I wish to respond to,
After that I'm ready to put the steaks on,
Then I write my repsonse and press submit,
Then I get the water for the veggie going, take the rice off the burner,
And then realize I've mispelled a few words and press edit,
Then I add the veggies and then make the spelling changes, press submit,
After that I pull the steaks and the veggies and we eat.

Not too bad, about 45 minutes to just post 1 repsonse to 1 thread.
