Matt,

I am using SP today after a couple days and i`m posting this just to say: It is a lot better. Last week it took me 55sec to one minute just to login, today it took me 24 sec. A lot better.
Thanks for the help!
Cheers

I think most people only post to complain, so since there hasn't been many complaints since the changes, I assumed that was a good thing. It is nice to hear confirmation that others are noticing the improvement in speed though.

Matt you only got it fixed last Thursday afternoon, and many folks such as myself were out climbing from then until now, thus the lack of immediate feedback. I am online now though and the site has been performing much better. Takes only 1-2 seconds to open a page.

Fixing the site was probably more work than giving the feedback. Thanks for doing that.

Although yes I currently love how speedy things have become, I have a minor problem. When I fix up any of my pages for some reason it takes like a minute or so to load the page that I just edited. This seems to be caused by a slow advertisement, which it doesn't seem to be sp's server's fault. One example is of a site called payload.yieldbuild.com which spends like a minute attempting to load an ad. I attached a screen shot of what it looks like when I'm waiting for the loading (after fixing up a page), and of course it loads the important stuff last. :? But then when I re-look at the page without editing it, it loads instantly! :) :?:

mvs wrote:I don't know if this offers any insight into Josh's creative process, but I know when I upload a TR or route, I end up creating several pages (TR, mountain, route page or two, sometimes a custom object as well).

On my last month's trip report as seen here:
http://www.summitpost.org/it-doesn-t-ge ... gan/736442
I used 121 photos for the 4 day trip. Not only were those photos used for the trip report, but were also added to an album, photos attached to there mountain pages that were relevant, used a few on the North Cascades Page and used many of them for the Mount Logan Page itself:
http://www.summitpost.org/mount-logan/154947

So I think I got a bit of good use out of them, plus the panorama's I got to add to my personal panorama album. 8)

Sorry, some PESKY skeeters have just invaded the "Server speed" thread !

Things will be working much (more) smoothly in about one minute; I promise ..

Login is still incredibly slow. Fortunately, once you get past that things seem to move at a good speed.

I haven't tried logging in recently as I always check the option to stay logged in all the time. But I just logged out and logged back in and it did take perhaps 3 to 4 seconds while the rest of the pages seem to load in 1 to 2 seconds. Not sure what the cause is for the slowness logging in, but given the fact that people log in (at most) once per visit, I'm not sure that it's worth the effort to track down what the long pole might be at this point, but I'll keep it in mind.

Agree.

It is faster, but it's still only half-fast.

It didn't seem to work here:

Nothing was contributed either, so makes me wonder if the script missed quite a few unused users including banned accounts. :?

I've got an impression that those scheissbook and twatter features slow it down even more.
Here is a thread about those things but it somehow doesn't appear on the front page.
