chinese wall

Looking to see the Chinese Wall for the first time since moving to Montana. What the H have I been doing? Weather looks like it's going to be okay. Any current reports from the Bob Marshall Wilderness? Trails, use, bear sightings, etc? Planning on heading in Tuesday thru Saturday or Sunday with 2 other backpackers.

Don't know if you've all ready seen this article. If not, it might be helpful. http://www.backpacker.com/august-2011-b ... ions/15831

I just returned from a 5 day backpack to the North Wall which is just North and a little east of the Chinese Wall. They are similar formations but the two are not continuous.

We saw a lot of bear tracks (both black and grizzly) on the trails we hiked. Saw no bears though. Only saw one hiker near Headquarters Pass.

We had several inches of snow, then heavy rain and several inches more of snow on our trip. The high country along the Chinese Wall and the North Wall are pretty white. Be prepared for wet muddy conditions lower in the valleys and walking in snow up high. With the cold nights even the slightly warmer days will not remove this snow.

If you get out there, please keep in mind there is still a missing persons search in the area of the chinese wall. Keep your eyes out for any clues like clothing etc.
