Evolution Traverse slideshow by Michelle in Pasadena Tuesday

by hamik » Fri Oct 21, 2011 5:30 am

The Evolution Traverse (5.9 VI) is widely considered the greatest of the Sierra ridge traverses. After making the traverse for the first time, Peter Croft is said to have remarked, "it is the best traverse I have ever done." With over 8 miles of technical terrain and nine peaks over 13000 ft, it dwarfs the well-known Thunderbolt to Sill Palisade Traverse and is harder than the seldom-repeated Minaret Traverse.

Join us at Caltech in Pasadena on Tuesday, November 1, 8:15 pm as Michelle Peot, also known as fossana on SummitPost, tells us of her journey across the magnificent ridge that has thwarted so many other capable climbers. The Caltech Alpine Club is hosting this event for free (no tickets required); there will be food, drinks, and good company, so come join us for this awesome talk!

There are more details (including location and directions) on the event page. You don't have to RSVP, but if you do, I can make sure to get enough food and drink! See the Facebook page for RSVPs.

That is outstanding... very impressive doing it solo. How long did the route take?

Thanks! I had wanted to finish it in 2 days, but ended up finishing at 7:30 am on day 3 due to my inability to eat at that altitude.

Really bummed I do not live in the area to see the prezo. Really impressive, and her TR on supertopo is awesome too.

Very impressive Fossana! I read your excellent TR on ST; great read, great beta & photos, and great play-list 8)

The Evo-traverse has been on my bucket-list for some time. Now, you’ve got me inspired to put it on the 2012 calendar (at least to run some recon trips) and start training harder for the Evo-Challenge. Hope to see you and other SPers at the slideshow.

Cheers,
Rick Graham

ps. thanks for making the talk start at a ‘commuter friendly’ 8:15pm

Absolutely amazing accomplishment.

And solo...

Hoping to be there for the slideshow at Caltech.

Thanks to Hamik and the others at Caltech for setting this up, along with Reel Rock and the Banff Festival each year, too.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there,

Gusto
