Yosemite HD

by Barple » Sat Jan 21, 2012 12:00 am

This video is a collaboration between Sheldon Neill and myself.

The two of us became friends through Vimeo and explored a shared interest in timelapsing Yosemite National Park over an extended period of time. We'd like to expand this idea to other locations and would appreciate any suggestions for a future project.

Awesome, really well done - I certainly prefer these things to be of multiple aspects/features in one area rather than one aspect/feature in multiple areas. The 0:56 to 1:30 section with no music is a great transition sequence. A few more seconds of big wall shots might have been nice. How long did it take to shoot? Fancy going to Hawaii? I bet you could do some fantastic stuff there between the big waves, the lava flows, the amazing skies, the forests etc. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Baarb. I really wanted to feature the climbing more but i need a larger lens to get more interesting footage. At 1:52 that's Tommy Caldwell on the 12th pitch of the dawn wall project. I still have a lot of footage I haven't worked on. Hawaii being one of them. I would like to go back though cause I don't think I got enough material to work with in a video.

Beautiful work, On so many fronts, it would be interesting to hear from the real photo/video people here on Sp regarding your production. I think it's great! Very well done.

Saw this posted up in Timescapes. Nice one indeed! Sometime soon I need to get myself a DP rig! There´s a lot of work in that - timelapse sequences, working on the stills, editing - and lugging the gear. Again Thanks.

PS how was working with the DP rig?

Really cool! Love the way the waterfall "flaps" in the wind.

Wonderful video! I love the sandstorm sequence at 00:32. Having been through Kalima weather patterns on the islands I can tell you the guy was lucky to see anything at all. It's like looking at a white curtain...

Nice video! I hope there's more to come. A fun location might be the Tetons, or for something more interesting, Patagonia? :D

They both have prominent mountains and features everyone can identify.
