Buy/Sell Second-Hand Mountaineering Gear.

by vanman798 » Mon Feb 27, 2012 4:57 pm

Since ebay turned into regular stores selling their stuff at normal (non-sale) prices, where can one go to find second-hand mountaineering gear? With the amount of traffic mountains like Denali, Aconcagua, and Rainier see, and with all the guided tours out there, I suspect there are a lot of folks who buy the gear, use it a half dozen times, and move on to the next thing. The gear sits in the garage collecting dust. Why not sell that gear?

It would be great if there was an Ebay type site that was just for individuals (no retail stores) who were selling and/or buying mountaineering gear, backcountry ski gear, and/or climbing gear (ice or rock), and nothing else. In lieu of that, I thought I'd start this thread wherein folks buying or selling second-hand mountaineer gear could meet.

If you want to buy or sell mountaineering gear, backcountry skiing gear, and/or climbing gear (rock or ice), please post here.

It would also be wonderful if this thread could be included in other regions (say all of N. America), so if you know if that can be down please let me know.

Thanks!

Are you sure about this? My ebay is forbidden to me at the moment, but cant you just check a box to get used gear and bypass the new stuff. I have used ebay very successfully to sell some of my stuff.

There is also geartrade.com

Thanks Radson, I will try what you suggest. However, I still think this thread might be useful.
