As many know, the 2nd edition of Highpoint Adventures has been out of print and unavailable since 2007. With Google's new project to allow even out-of-print books to come to life again as electronic books, Highpoint Adventures has now been scanned and published online, and is available for purchase through Google eBooks.

There are quite a few people on SP nearing completion. Is anyone planning to finish the 50 state HPs in 2011?

I plan on going from 11 completed to between 15-17 completed. Although Mt. Washington next weekend is certainly no sure thing, but if I have to turn back i am sure it will bug me enough all year that I'll drive back out in summer to hike it.

Since we spilled to new page in order to keep on track I'll re quote Alpinist because despite my narcissistic ramblings i am interested in this question.

I'm trying to push the envelope this year, but a new job may limit my leave days... I'm shooting to get to 49 by Labor Day weekend, however, there is potential for me to only add one this year. Lets hope for the best.

Good luck! I'm hoping to get 49 done this year as well. Tracking the progress of some of the other SPers, 2012 should be a big year for highpointers!

You have all the hardest ones done. Except for an expensive flight to Hawaii you are pretty much one good road trip away from completing. Congratulations!

We just got our permit for the Mountaineer's Route on Mount Whitney for August 9-10 and also hope to do Katahdin this year. If successful I will finish with 48 state highpoints this year and then hope to do Hawaii next winter.

I am very interested in Denali. Just not sure if:

1. I can afford it.
2. take nearly a month away from my business to climb it.
3. my 50+ year-old aching body can handle it.

When I get #49 done I will strongly consider it.

Just checked your 2011 climbing plans Alpinist and in addition to getting to 49hps you'll have 5 of 7 summits. Only problem is those last 2 sure are pricey.

On Mt. Greylock we met up with a porcupine who was wandering on trail he must of been in scuffle as he was missing a few quills but seemed healthy.

On Black Mesa there were a bunch of Horny Devil lizards which are cool little creatures especially for someone who subscribed to reptiles magazine as a kid.

Lastly surprising these guys on Wheeler was cool
