Jeb Corliss releases wingsuit crash video on Table Mountain

by johnm » Thu Feb 23, 2012 7:12 am

Corliss has now released his own wingsuit cam video from when he clipped the outcropping on Table Mountain.

The original spectator video showed him clip and go into a spiral. This newly released video shows why he survived.

Don't quite get what happened, his chute sort of opened and he landed in a bush?

He clips the edge of the rock with his legs as he passes by that ledge, where the balloon is, that's why he does a flip and slows down a lot. I think the loss of speed was the main reason his parachute didn't open enough before he landed, but I think the actual landing was the least of his worries. He is lucky he still had legs to break bones in after that hit. He has other videos like one called "grinding the crack" you can find on youtube, where he also comes extremely close to colliding with terrain. I love watching those videos as they have incredible camera work and cool locales, but I know at some point he will have to be scraped off the side of some mountain somewhere because he made another tiny mistake like in this video.

Edit: I went and watched it immediately after posting this, so here is the link:
