Granite Mountains?

by Scott » Mon Mar 12, 2012 1:45 am

Has anyone climbed much in the Granite Mountains of WY? They are located between Rawlins and Lander. I have to admit that I've driven by them countless times and they look very intriguing, but I've never stopped to climb anything there. Although they look quite interesting, I never hear anything about them other than the historic sites (such as Independence Rock which is on SP).

I've done a fair amount of hiking/scramling in the vicinty of Splitrock State Historic Site. Ver nice walk on the Sweetwater too. BIG rock domes, cliffs, etc.

Green Mt. is very nice, an oasis of aspens, gurgling water, etc.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check out Green Mountain.
