Organ Mtns, Sugarloaf

by Deb » Mon Apr 16, 2012 12:52 am

I've been eye-balling Sugarloaf for a few months now....online of course....and would love to get this thing done. Probably North Face Route or Left Eyebrow, whichever is the longest and most fun. Please enlighten me as to when the best time of the year to climb this thing is...considering typical weather and aspect of route.
Thanks!

A buddy of mine was there a couple weeks ago and said it was snowing then, but that is a rare event there. Actually, now might not be a bad time. Obviously summer is a no go usually because of the heat. Be warned though, this is a rugged area that is not really appropriate for women. When we were there last time we had to rescue a woman who had gotten off-route down a gully and stuck over pouroffs. You need solid route-finding skills and the ability to bushwack, as well as the rock climbing skills.
