North Side of Baker from near the upper Parking Lot in the summer, Artist Point. We found the snow very soft, pleasant temperatures and good views. We used the old snowshoes for most of the trip up. Just looking for fresh air and dream of trips soon. 4/23/12.

Not too fun, not consolidated how I like it, but worth it.

I'm waiting for the roads into McLoughlin to open up, that's my plan for a first trip this year since I'm familiar with the climbing route in snow and took a ton of GPS points up to the SE ridge last year. Better gear, better physical condition, and familiar with the climb, I should be able to make that last damn 295' I missed last year.

I'm still sun burnt from last weekend. :x I put on spf 50 sunscreen at least 3 times. Today my face is having crusty pieces fall off my face. :P Even at Paradise I gotta be even more careful about that sun. :?

Mount Baker Hill Climb. Ride 542. Why walk when you can ride a bike?

Me and a bud took a day trip hiking up the west side (ridge/moraine) of the White River runoff. Up til about 8.4k where it was snow if we went any further. We didn't gear to go further, so all she wrote. Saw some folks down on the glacier near some cracks, probably practicing. Some pretty accessible crevasses by the time you hit 8k. Not huge but will give you 20+ feet to play with.

In some random-ass act of I have no clue, at about 7.5k we here this buzzing. Look up there is a plane off in the distance, coming ~down~ the mountain. As it got closer, it was clearly electric, very light-weight, twin rotor and I have absolutely no clue if anyone was driving it. It was pretty windy, probably 25-30mph steady with some gusts. I was rather impressed at how stable it was. I think it was a UAV. Because it then went down toward the lodge. The thing traveled a 1-2 miles in only 3-4 minutes and completely out of our sight. I dont know how any human could (like typical RC planes) fly a craft as this one was traveling in that wind and beyond a persons field of vision.

Anyhow, some photo's...

WOW! The weather just continues to be favorable for outside stuff...like climbing. We did the Beckey Route on Liberty Bell Friday, only one team of two sharing route. Others on nearby summits. How about other climbs you did?

Pretty much. The party is over. At least the fires will be gone and the snow will return. :D
