I had a leg injury that curtailed my hiking until about two weeks ago and recently I've hiked some stuff in Nevada with Dennis Poulin, a SP'er from Oregon. We did 9 peaks in 10 days in southern Nevada. So I'm looking forward with more hikes with Greg & Kadee, Imontop, Mikerhiker, etc but I too lament the loss of Wasatchvoyage, he was a great asset to SP with his Utah contributions. Drop me a PM if you'd like to do something, I generally have fridays/saturdays free.

Thanks, Dean. Will you be around in the Salt Lake Valley during July? My wife and I are coming up AFTER the 4th, and I'd
like to do a hike in the Stansburys or Wasatch at that time. Please be watching your PM for details.

I also noticed that Wasatchvoyage is no longer on SP. Pages that used to be his have now been adopted by others. Where did he go?

If you're still interested , he went over to mbpost.com ..

Last post in the Utah Forum on May 10th? Egads... Wouldn't worry too much about that old WV guy, I'm sure he's lurking around here from time to time.

It would be cool to start up a seasonal based thread again, posting up activities that everyone has been up to. It seemed to give some motivation to get new ideas, routes, and peaks to hit up when we did that a couple years back. Thing is would anyone else contribute to it, especially as of late...

Time for some youtube spammage: Please add some of your own if you have some, I need some fresh challenges/ideas to hit up this summer.

Here are a couple from over the past few months:

Phenom - do you film using a GoPro? I just got one and hope to get video to look as good as yours.

Thanks Matt, it is a GoPro Hero HD. I shoot at 1080P, using a chest mount. It has really changed the way to capture the moment up on those routes/peaks. It also doubles as an excellent replacement for the old camcorder for home/family videos also.

I hear you about the technology... I deal with it daily at work. However, while working on a bunch of fiber optic nodes around the Tooele Valley this past week, I kept staring up at the Stansbury Range. 1993 was the last time I was on Deseret Peak, so it made the decision pretty easy which group of peaks to hit up this morning, Deseret, North and South Willow Peaks, at that little one just above Pockets Fork on the way down. Funny thing is I ran into SP members mtybumpo and Castlereagh up there who were doing the same route I was. Cool to meet them in person, and we headed back down to the trailhead together from the Pockets Saddle.

Hope no one is offended by the death metal music in some of those videos...

funny thing is i skimmed this thread yesterday or the day before too. Great day in the mountains with great people. If any locals see some lanky dude postholing through the snow up Snowbasin Road on Mt. Ogden tomorrow, that'll probably be me.

What's cool about meeting somebody in person ?? Sounds like it'd be rather stressful, nerve-whacking and highly intimidating. :P

Have you folks been up to South Willow Lake, yet? I remember visiting it with friends and family members back in 1982 ... I visited it again last year,
and it hasn't changed one bit ! The snowfield above the lake was much larger and deeper, however.
