it was 90 in Flagstaff today...that does not happen often. The monsoons are supposed to start in a few days. We shall see if that actually happens

My father in law lives in Scottsdale in the winter and stays with us in Seattle during the summer. We decided if the temperatures were averaged both would have comfortable temperatures.

The rest of the country isn't much cooler. 106F in Atlanta. Factor in the humidity and that's nasty. I love the 112-degree days here when the humidity is 3% and the dewpoint is 10F. I wilt under the hot and humid conditions back east (we usually visit Baltimore/DC/VA wher my in-laws live). However, it does curtail my hiking.

Not the FIRST time hikers (prospectors?) have turned up missing in this area ... of course, wishing them the best.

My in-laws live in the Philippines. I STILL do more hiking in Arizona then I do in the Philippines ....

Just saying ... from my side of the barbed wire fence, I reckon to see those blue skies open really SOON ..

That would be tomorrow, Steve. It took me awhile to decide rather I wanted peanut butter or Chocolate chip.

Northern California has had unusually mild weather for the past year. What's wrong with you guys to the east?

Here's what professor Arizona has to say about it all:

It has been an unusually hot spring and summer here in the midwest. And now with the storms that came through here and the mid-Atlantic states last Friday, a cool down would be welcome. The storms were brutal. I can't believe the number of trees down in my neighborhood. I was pretty fortunate and was only without power for 30 hours. There are stll 30K people in my town without power (currently 96 and humid)...and the numbers are even worse in the mid-Atlantic states - hotter and a lot more people without power. Looks like its going to be at least Saturday for quite a few people before they get power back. Could get dangerous with the high heat!

Between the fires in Colorado and now these storms...a little good news would be welcome.

Hey Mark. Gotta agree with you, there ... 100% ... the good news about the high heat and lack of moisture is, it's keeping the SKEETER population down ... at least in Arizona.

Also, that "bubble-headed" beach blond on the Five 'o clock news DOES paint a PRETTY picture. After all, the COOLNESS factor remains a predominant FACTOR, and always must be FACTORED in to ANY equation ... ......

Too hot in Arizona! Highs have been struggling to reach 80 here in Northern California. It has been jacket weather at night. If one can make it here, it is pretty darn safe.
