Just a question

by asmrz » Mon Sep 24, 2012 9:41 pm

Over the years I saw an action taken by the administartors regarding deceased members pages. The pages are in some way locked out so the data becomes permanent on SP. Well in July we and the Summitpost lost "Zoomloco". Ben Horne died in Peru climbing a new route on a very difficult peak. There was an incredibly valiant and touching affort by the climbing community to search for him and his partner Gil Weiss but they fell to their deaths. Would you guys please "secure" his page? I did not know him personally, but he e-mailed me several times regarding his exploits in the Sierra and seemed such a nice person. How do I/WE go about it?

We can take care of that, no problem. It's most helpful when people who knew the deceased member can write something so that there's more of a personal touch. Maybe a post about this in the General forum might garner such feedback. If that doesn't happen after a little bit, we can just do it ourselves.

By the way, what we do is "memorialize" the profile page. Beta pages may in some cases not be made available for adoption, but admins can update pages when that is necessary.

In fact, this reminds me I still have to update driving directions on such a page...
