Is anyone planning on going down to Orizaba early December? If so I would love to go. I have experience in the mountains, though this will be my highest climb. I will be an Wilderness EMT and would love to tag along with another group. I'm from San Diego and am in shape (just got done with a thru-hike of the PCT this summer) and ready to climb.

Depending on your comfort level on moderately steep snow (and the condition of the glacier), Orizaba would make for a reasonable solo trip. There is no crevasse danger on the route and the climbing and route-finding are both pretty straight-forward. Just something to consider if you can't find a group to link up with. I'd love to go climb it again, but there are just too many other places in the world I've got to go see... Good luck finding some partners!

I am beginning to plan a climb for mid December - early January. My time frame is December 14-January 7th. I'll climb Orizaba and one other volcano, hopefully Ixta. I was planning to do it solo, but would welcome a partner. I'm looking at getting basic logistical support (hostel+transportation+fuel/water) from a local outfitter, handling my own food etc.
