Widow’s Tears (V WI5) in Yosemite Valley just climbed

by Jesus Malverde » Sun Jan 20, 2013 12:46 am

FYI
Looks like the folks over at Sierra Mountaineering International just did an ascent of Widow's Tears in Yosemite Valley.
According to the blog post: "the longest continuous ice climb in the contiguous 48 states."

A very nice ice climbing trip. Pics from pitch #7 show well the length and steepness of the route. Congrats for the successful accomplishment.

It is not the longest ice climb in the lower 48. Still a huge accomplishment thought! This thing does not form often and still has 1-2 dozen ascents. I think 5 parties went up it this season.

Here is a link to another TR with lots of additional pictures of the climb:

Popular route aye, it looks real fat and wide and safe.
