And I thought I was cold!

I thought I was cold this week with morning temps sitting around -31C (-23F), for once I'm glad I'm in the East!

The Arctic front is doing a number on most of Canada and all the way down in central USA.
Good time to be in the East or in Calagary. Northern Alberta is cold but we are luckier in the South.

It's crazy when you go outside and the inside of your nose instantly freezes or your eyes haze over for a sec. I was working outside today and even with gloves on my fingers were going numb, mind you they were crappy gloves and it was only -28C. I feel bad for the people working in camps up there!

Note that Verhkojansk is at 67 degrees latitude - ie north of arctic circle whereas Winnipeg is just north across the 49th from Minnesota!
There is plenty of cold weather to go around this winter as people are dying from the cold in Europe, Russia, China and all the way down to Syria and even India.

Meanwhile, here in Australia? Hottest summer in decades. Last Friday, Sydney broke it's all time max high of 46 degrees Celsius. Even hotter in the outback and regular 38C temps all around.

He bailed on the attempt. Who can blame him!

I lived in upstate New York... Occasionally I'd get up to Watertown and other god-forsaken northern towns on the border, where it was bitterly cold and wind-swept...

And then I'd realize that there was a whole other country even further north.....
