Thanks Chad.

That makes sense now.

What is occurring in the Bay Area does not correlate at all to what the current Sierra precip amounts for that same time period are.

Snowpack slips below 50%, according to LADWP

"Snow pillow measurements show Mammoth Pass at 82% of normal. Every place else sits under 50%. Rock Creek, 17%. South Lake, 39%. Big Pine Creek, 32% and Cottonwood Lakes in the south at 19%.

Precipitation figures loom low too. Long Valley sits at 37% of normal to date. Bishop, 20%. Big Pine, 16%. Independence, 24%. South Haiwee, 12% and Los Angeles at 43%.

Adams said that LADWP will issue more information on the water year after examining statewide and local conditions. The State Department of Water Resources said that this January and February were record dry months, dating back to 1895."

Better think again, from the CA Dept of Water Resources:

"Water Year 2012-13 started off with a bang with an extremely wet November and December, but our lack of precipitation since has reminded us that Mother Nature is fickle. . We’ve seen the driest January and February on record with a combined precipitation total at only 2.3 inches . So far, March has provided little relief. And the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center’s outlook through May suggests an increased chance of below normal precipitation for the entire state."

Granted its not likely to happen like that often, but the metrics seem to be tracking each other this year. I am not a hyrdologist, so I have no idea how the snow sensor and snow pack measurements are apportioned as representing a specific geographic location/hydrologic basin and subsequently the statewide snowpack is aggregated. But I can do some digging if needed...

So, looks like you all are water screwed. LADWP has you all over their knees and bending over!

Between the State of Mornia Water Boarding ya'll and the LADWP, you all that are fully dependent on them and any other formal corp for your water, are now in a world of deep shit. Give yourselves a hand.

I just got my quarterly water quantity report for my well, and guess what, I am at 110% of 110% capable. Ground water source report from up canyon indicates full feed through at least Oct as it was last year at this time. Regardless the snowpack.

Guess what, no water hours nor water bills out the ass for this dude. And no LADWP nor any other water ripoff company has access to my well/water.

Rule number One!

Ensure your septic toilet lines are not connected to your well. This prevents your well water from tasting like shet.

Rule number Two!

NEVER be dependent on any major Monopoly for your water, electricity, sewage or any other fundamental infrastructure. Cus you are at their full mercy.

Rule number Three!

Cease your whining if you are fully dependent on anyone for your basic needs.

Rule number Four!

Be grateful for what you have, regardless how much or how little. Cus it is all you will have, NOW. And NOW is all you got.

That is where you screwed up!

Septic goes out front and well is out back (behind the locked fence) where no one can dump any shet into it. Dah.

Moose Laura and her poor low snowpack.

Whiners are gonna always whine.

PS Laura, report from today's events, Checkered Demon/Kindergarten and North Couloir of Humphreys are in "Primo" conditions.

Ah, no bigass hardened steel lock on the access port. Gotcha.

Two big fat t-bone steaks and your 2 big dogs are instantly rendered completely useless for ten to fifteen minutes.

Kinda like a slab of Salted Bacon placed in front of a Moose.

No weapons required.

Q: Why don't they ever quote the guy that says, "well, it will all blow over, it always does. I've seen dry, and I've seen wet, and likely it will be very wet in a year or two". It's always, "we're all gonna die, motherfuckers, waaaaaaaaaa!".

Funny you say that.

Old Dave McCoy popped in the office this afternoon looking to see if the bosses Pop was around as he was headed next door to get his once a month haircut. Told him no but I figured what the hell, gonna get his take on all this "Dry Spell" hysteria.

So I ask him, "Well Mr. McCoy, how about this dry spell we are having?"

He starts giggling and then says just about the same as the quote above. He tells me how back in 47 and 48' he walked more than he skied both of them Winters when he was doing his part time Snow Surveys for the LADWP.

"This aint dry compared to those two Winters. Not one bit. There were numerous Winters after those that were not as bad as they were but far worse than the last two we have had. Folks these days just don't know. Funny aren't they."

I chuckled and told him I know exactly what he means.

Amazing human being that Dave McCoy is.

Yup, been a lot worse years just in the past 37 years. 76, 77, 88, 90, 94, 2007 and last year:

http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/prod ... _1_SWC.pdf

And look at this graph. Hmmmm. Lot worse way back then than we have seen in the past 15-20 years.

But then people will find reasons to whine about anything.

ron burgandy wrote:Listen Kahuna, you're beginning to sound a bit paranoid about the water supply and my well being, no need to be. I have a pond in my back yard, there is PLENTY of H20 at my disposal here. I don't want to move my well prolly can't would screw up the charm of my house and my property. I'm not gonna put up a privacy fence to hide my well from any wrong doers that may happen by. Hell, I don't lock my garage, and rarely lock my house. Never had any problems and don't anticipate any.

Me paranoid.... I could give a ratass about your well/pond water situ etc.

But apparently your continued responses to this thread regarding to your water availability, truly indicates that it is you that is second guessing your current situation. Especially with all this lack of snow pack in the Sierra and the potential of water deprivation media hysteria that is being desciminated and believed by the masses.

Yur gonna die! Regardless your "2 big dogs".

OK, mixed booting/humping from the dirt road end to the plateau basin which splits the Wazzoos and the K&S areas. Solid skinning to the base of Kindergarten and Checkered chutes.

This as of Monday last.
