i was just at EBC on the south side last week. it was truly like a refuge camp. took a good 40 minutes to walk from one end of the camp to the other along the Khumbu icefall/glacier. saw and talked to some of the "climbers" there and the Everest circus does live up to its reputation.

so i spent two nights at base camp and those were the only two nights i had stomach issues. this is from a guy that has been in Nepal/India the last 8 months without being sick once. so take it for whatever it is.

this story is not just uncommon but expected. for Western "climbers" it is a sport but for the Sherpa it is their livelihood.

region is still beautiful so people are going to continue to come.

So are the climbers really leaving Everest due to that fight (I can see why, but that would be sad)? Hope they go on with their plans...

So does Petzl make a "Sherpa Pick" to fit Steck's Nomics? :D

sounds like the Nepalese in base camp are going to have a bit of Texas Justice for the sherpa involved, I don't think they are going to fair so well upon return for "biting the hand that feeds". Bad P.R for all involved

Keep it like hockey. Crampons can stay on, but you can't kick. Punches only. Ice axe must be thrown aside, gloves should come off before the first punch is thrown. Taking your helmet off first makes you more badass.

The more I read about this incident, the more I come to the conclusion that the Sherpas are out of control assholes.

This is Madison's (Alpine Ascents) point of view: http://www.explorersweb.com/everest_k2/ ... p?id=21439

And Urubko's thoughts thanks to a explorersweb.com translation from the Russian:
