One on one with a bison walking right at me down the center line in Yellowstone last week. What you can't see is my car is a two seat convertible and he was not moving off the center line. Made me a little nervous slowly going by.

During a long hike this spring, I saw one of those bobcat size Sierra white rabbits on Eagle Peak (near Twin Lakes). It was better than finding Easter eggs at Eureka Dunes in DVNP.

This beast wanted all my trail mix before finally letting me pass on the Washington PCT.

Two of the biggest rattlers I've ever seen, Chagoopa Plateau, ~9300ft, just off the High Sierra Trail (on the way to Moraine Lake) this past July.

First one was almost 4 feet long:

Second one between 4-5 feet and didn't even bother with rattling, just went straight to that throaty hiss:

I've seen in my years in the Idaho backcountry(mostly the central and southern part of the state):
Mountain goats, Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep, elk, mountain lions, wolves, and, just last winter, moose, which are 'planters'-that is, not indigenous to my locale.

Edit: Also Mule Deer and Pronghorn Antelope.

Here are a few critter pics from the last couple months. Edit- Ooops, I had a problem picking pics. Hope I didn't go too crazy.

Cow and calf moose at Fishercap Lake. Note large male in upper right.

Young Grizzly, locally known as 'Panda' due to her coloring when she was a cub. Even at three years old she was she following her mom around. It was kind of harsh watching mom (who Panda is looking for in this pic) trying to kick her little one out of the house.

A black bear family that showed up pretty often this year.

I saw this guy about a month ago. Then I saw another about 5 minutes later. They both looked pretty healthy going into the winter season.

I got quite a few really cool animals while I was fishing in Utah. I saw a bald eagle fly over me, looking down at the river for fish. It was awesome. I also saw a group of twenty turkeys which I've never seen before in the wild, just roaming around eating by the river. The last cool animal I saw was a black ferret. At least I think it was a black ferret, to be honest I can't tell the difference between weasels and ferrets. At any rate both turkeys and ferret were a first for me. It was a great day outdoors!
