Thanks for posting! I'll be camping at Newhalem the 26-28th and hiking the 27th - 29th. Looks like my plans for Sahale Arm and Black Peak may get cancelled :( and need to start looking into plan B!!!

That's news to me. :o I'm more sad about the Cascade Valley deal. Wonder when it will get patched up. Was there just last week, good thing I went to Jburg just in time.

This has been a very bad year for roads in the Cascades :x

How did you find out? Not even the forest service website mentions it (even though supposedly they give the current conditions for the roads). I don't think you'll find this in main stream news either.

Norman - here's a link to pictures of the highway 20 washouts that happened. The DOT is hoping to have it open by sometime tomorrow at the absolute earliest....
