Yes. Wanted to see if anyone else could tell. Both peaks in the pic are pretty popular, especially the one on the right.

Well… ended up with bear sightings 12-15 for the year yesterday. Seriously if you want to see bears I think all you have to do is head out to Roads End, smear a bit of blackberries on your face, and start walking.

The first was a fellow about 30-40 feet away when we first saw each other as we walked the trail in opposite directions. We stood and looked at each other briefly, then he turned off the trail as I stood ground to bypass me. As he walked around he didn’t pay me much attention, and passed within 10-12 feet. Behind me he regained the trail and continued walking down it about as slowly as he could go until he passed out of sight.

No zoom or cropping on these first two pics. Unfortunately slightly blurry, as it was cloudy at the time… well… raining a bit.

The second bear of the day spotted me from slightly further away, as was just to the side of the trail at the time. This one stared at me continuously. My experiences in this area have been that solitary bears will either be startled and take off or just ignore me completely. I knew instantly cubs must be around.

Well not a great pic but the two little fellows couldn’t have been much taller than my arm is long. They seemed very curious, but the mother walked over and nudged one of them with her head, and off they went into the brush down by the creek.

I noticed that many of the bears have been eating this stuff. Does anyone know what it is? So I gave it a try, not too bad really. I figure I could live off it but probably wouldn’t really want to have to. Two hard seeds in each piece of fruit.

Poisonberries. Three days after consumption, they suddenly cause panic attacks.

Although not the Sierra, it's pretty neat that the Whites have snow on them.

Hmmmm that sucks. Hope it did not snow much on the crest. When I on my way back yesterday, my plane flew over Sierra, but you could not see any peaks because it all was covered in clouds. I was pissed!

Yeah... you have really been lacking for great views. You should have beaten that pilot!

Well we have that. Any snow will be gone in 1-2 days at most.

Sounds like it received more snow than last winter! I guess I will claim a winter ascent on my next climb.
