Aconcagua Dec 2013 - Jan 2014

by herdbull » Fri Mar 22, 2013 11:28 am

I'm in the planning stages of an unguided solo trip to SA next winter to Climb Aconcagua and figured I'd throw it out there to see if anyone else was heading there to do the same. My thinking is (2) solo climbers could keep each other company, keep an eye on one another, and maybe split some costs here or there (mules, hostel, things like that).

Shoot me a pm for more details or if you are interested.

Thanks,

Travis

I'm interested. Let's talk.

I was going with three others but they've all bailed.

So I've had a few inquiries over the past few months and figured I'd post an update on my plans. I've decided to use INKA Exped. for their mule service to PDM and also a nights lodging and meals at Confluencia and PDM. From their I'm on my own.

I plan on leaving the states on Friday Dec. 20th and have a tentative return on Jan. 12th. Lodging in Mendoza will be at a hostel. I have it narrowed down to 2.

As of right now I have one other party that is very serious in joining me but has yet to say he's in 100%. There have been others that I'm sure as time gets closer we may see each other on the mtn. I would expect sometime in the next 2 weeks to have the permit filled out and a down payment sent to INKA.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully some of us cross paths.

Hi guys,

My g/f and I are planning on climbing Aconcagua in late Dec/Early Jan. We were planning on just the two of us climbing it w/o the use of a guided trip till I visited this http://www.aconcagua.mendoza.gov.ar/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=135&Itemid=497 page. By the looks of it unguided trips are $5100 in peak season. I can only assume this is peso's? Does anyone have information on this not being USD? Also if anyone would like to meet up or share donkey's, fire me a message at christopherjmanning@gmail.com,

That´s pesos, at the current exchange in the black market about U$D 566 each.

About the donkeys its quite easy, you can find somebody to share in Mendoza or talk to the arrieros in Puente del Inca.

I'm considering doing it in Jan. and have priced the major companies. Seems that the logistics packages are a real ripoff.

How easy is it to just rent a tent at PDM or PA when you arrive? Same thing goes for hot meals. Would prefer to pay only for the stuff I need after having to shell out an obscene $900 for a permit.

I have been planning a trip to El Chalten in Feb. 2014 this whole year now and I'm having a problem because the climbing partner I had in line is slowly but surely backing out on me so now I'm idle on what to do. I suggested getting ready to buy plane tickets in the next week and I think it spooked him, I cant have the fear of trust in someone over making the commitment of making reservations on the end of 100 feet of rope :( . ..... If anyone has some suggestions or needs a partner for something similar hit me up. .. I'm always looking for something new and big to try. Text me Matt 406 285 1434 Cheers!
