Lost River Range Idaho Current snowpack conditions

by Matt Lemke » Wed Mar 19, 2014 10:59 pm

Anyone from Idaho know what the snowpack is like in the Lost River/Lemhi ranges? Is there a place I can find Idaho avalanche forecasts?

Thanks

Matt,

The snowpack this year has just been weird. The Lost River range is below average but there's still quite a bit of of unsettled snow on the north aspects. The southern side of the range is relatively dry due to the high pressure systems that hung around most of the winter. I haven't heard of many trip reports this season due to the high avy risk but things are starting to settle down now. Here's a report from 3-15

Thanks! Hopefully I can make a 12er or 2 in mid April on my way back to Wyoming!

Lost Rivers got a good dump of snow last week. But it looks like next week will be spring, with warm temps. Let it sit for a day, then go have some fun.

Here's a recent trip report of an attempt on Breitenbach.

I never did get to them. I ended going to Chile instead! I am hoping to get there at least once later this spring though

Does anyone have an update on the conditions? I was thinking of going up there this weekend.
