anybody doing mt Rainier in the near future?

by Naissurdam » Fri Nov 14, 2014 10:52 pm

I'm in Los Angeles and want to do mt. Rainier in the next few months but don't have anyone to team up with locally. Any of you locals planning on doing mt. Rainier any time soon and are stranger friendly? :)

When you say "in the next few months" and "any time soon", do you mean this winter?

Would you opt for Shasta instead?

I've never been to Rainier so I don't know just how late you can still do it hence I'm relying on you locals being ready to go as an indication that it's still doable :) but yes I was thinking in the next month or so. According to the description on this site people climb year around so I guess later on might be good too. again hard to judge without personal experience.

Foreman, when you ask about the time frame do you mean when to climb or how long to climb? I'm on a somewhat flexible schedule so I might take some weekdays off but I need to know the dates to know what I can get away with in the office at that time. I wholeheartedly love Shasta and would totally do it but I've climbed it several times but never been to Rainier so I'm more interested in finding partners for Rainier

Is there any interest in a time between 19DEC and 02JAN?

Edit: I probably shouldn't climb so soon due to my collar bone injury and such.

I may be interested in a late January to February ascent. I'd do it sooner, but my collar bone is still recovering from the 8 screws placed in.

I think I should be good for late december climb. late jan-feb is a bit harder to predict, I'll need to know more exact days.

I'd be up for Rainier. Shasta just makes for a cheaper flight for me.

Simkin, I probably will fly unless there are more folks from around los angeles who'd want to split the cost and drive time. and it looks like my schedule just freed up quite a bit so I should be pretty flexible on the dates. it looks like posts here require several days of approval so I'm up for moving to pm/email if anyone's interested.

Foreman, what dates work for you?
