I'm going to be in the Tucson area in the beginning of March. Is there local guidebook that covers some peaks in the area?

I'll be there for 5 days, so suggested peaks are welcome too. I'll have like 1/2 days to be able to hike, so looking for 4-5 hour hikes within an hour or so of town.

So far it looks like Safford/Panther, Golden Gate, Wasson, and Keystone may be good choices.

Picacho is short and fun. Wrightson is a popular half-day with a nice summit view.

Thanks! My only worry with Wrightson that early in the year is snow...

Running down Wrightson in the snow was a blast when I did it last January, and it seems to see enough traffic that the trail will probably be packed soon after any storm. Wait and see what El Niño brings, I guess...

I did it last year on Easter Sunday and it was shorts and T-shirt almost all the way to the top when it got a bit windy and I added a layer. There was no snow on the ground.
My vote goes for Ragged Top! Fairly short drive from Tucson, fantastic desert scenery down low (better than Saguaro NP imho), nice scramble and great views; easily doable in 3-4h round trip.

Yep, Ragged top is a quick fun scramble.

I think the +8000' peaks already have over 1' snow. Expect it.
