I have added a new poll question for the month of August.

Xu Jing said he saw Irvine's body below the First Step in 1960, why didn’t any searches find him?

Please take your vote at Mount EverestThe British Story

Results from last months question

Should the British government arrange and pay for the search of Andrew Irvine on Mount Everest?

Yes 52%
No 45%
Not Sure 3%

Xu never said he saw Irving. He only said he saw an "English dead". Many think that it was Mallory he saw, while others thing Irving. Xu only spoke Chinese, so the conversation was mostly with hand signals. He was killed shortly after the conversation, so no one could follow up on what he saw.

Why does the thread say a winter ascent? Mid September isn't even remotely close to winter.
