Sierra license plate

by 96avs01 » Thu Mar 19, 2009 5:06 pm

I know a previous thread exists, but the search function doesn't want to cooperate. The design has been released, here. Not very impressive given the multitude of iconic Sierra views they could have chosen.

I would go further and say it sucks.

Sierra License Plate - clip art

This conveys the majesty of the Sierras? It's clip art!

No kidding! A 4 year old could design this in about 2 minutes.

I expected to see a tacky Mt. Whitney picture but this is even worse

CA license plates are so lame! The old ones are kinda neat, but for the most populous state with the most interesting and beautiful scenery, we sure have the most boring plate design. Why is this?

It must be too diverse that they can't make up their mind what to put on it. How about a palm tree with a snowcapped mountain in the back :) ?

From what I understand, the California plate with Yosemite Valley used to be easily confused with the Washington State plate showing Mt. Rainier - both were blue watermarks in back of the numbers and had state names in red letters of similar script.

The new license does look pathetic, but maybe the bureaucrats are leaving the open space on the right side for some regional imaging. How about the infamous highway "Caution" sign of the dad, mom, and kid running across the freeway or just a brown patch (smog) for us here in So Cal. Maybe those of you in the Bay area could use an image of an East Bay/downtown Oakland crack dealer, or a San Francisco gay couple holding hands. San Joaquin Valley folks might like a meth cooker. Eastern Sierra residents will probably have to have an boring image of Mt. Whitney or maybe Brower Palisade.

Don't you just love the diversity here in California!

I would like to see a bear ripping open a car, with Halfdome in the background. Would that be so wrong?

The Mrs. official comment, "That's pathetic, our 4 year old grandson could have done better in about 4 minutes"

I agree with Bob, I believe a new cause beckons Chief.
