This should be in the Colorado forum.

The east face route was my first back country ski trip (I didn't make the summit). I don't recall there being an issue with avalanche danger on that route, but that was back in the days when I never thought about avy danger (read that as "stupid teenager").

Check out the appropriate Lou Dawson book on skiing the 14ers. Great info on routes and avalanches

East slopes would be a better route, but not totally free of danger, and a long day.
