So I'm stuck in California now... HELP!

As some of you may now know, I'm working and living minutes away from downtown Los Angeles right now. Is there anyone who climbs here??

My condolences ;-). Still, you should have no trouble finding people to climb in Joshua Tree or the eastern Sierra on the weekends.

lucky for you, respite is not far away. Your nearest summit is the highpoint of Elysian Park. A concrete water tower sits atop it, Dodger Stadium not far below. Your approach via paved Angels Point Rd will take you past the LA Police Academy and within 10 meters of the summit. No fence bars access between the road and the water tower, making for a class 2 urban assault summit. Enjoy!

There are plenty of folks that climb who love in the LA area, Sierra's are only a few hours away. I work in DTLA as well.

I moved to LA Metro on purpose to get near mountains and still have a job that can support a family.

You should post on Supertopo. There are a few folks who I believe live near downtown or to the northeast that get out occasionally. Batrock and Nut Again have posted trip reports about local adventures. There's also a fundraiser that's taking place at the Stronghold gym (tonight) that should be loaded with motivated locals.

Get a copy of Peter Croft's "The Good, the Great and the Awesome," or one of the other books on this Amazon page, and start getting psyched about living near to what John Muir called the "Range of Light".
