I have a buddy that flew into Germany yesterday for a nine day vertical rock climbing trip. The first time he has been to Europe. we had plans for the Frankenjura, the Bernese Alps and a mix of stuff along the byways to France. It looks like the weather has shut us down and it is going to rain or snow all week in these places. I need some advice on dry routes and good rock. Willing to drive to Italy, Denmark, GB, Sweden, France, Spain, Liechtenstein, where ever!!! If anyone has a line on a dry crag (anything with more than one route and a UIAA grade below 8+) for the 24th of September and for the next seven days, please let me know.

You could try Britain. It's usually dry here (between 1500 and 2100 hrs, most Thursdays during June. Apart from that, it pisses down nearly all the time. We can only tell what season it is from the temperature of the rain!!)

The dryest area should be the Provence or Calanque in France, there´s a lot to climb e.g. Gorges du Verdon

Thanks for the England/Wales tip. I like watching the rain and sitting in the hot tub while the drops splash about, but I am not a huge fan of gear placed in wet gritstone.

Thanks for the advice. Looked at the info on SP and it looks great. Will climb in S. Germany Monday while the sun is still shinning and move onto France on Tuesday. Will post a trip report. I owe you a beer or two, please let me know if you are ever headed to Hamburg.
