The Alpinist
Posted: Sat Dec 25, 2021 5:48 pmChristmas Eve I watched 'The Alpinist' with my wife and daughter. A documentary about Canadian climber Marc-Andre Leclerc, this film features some incredible climbing photography, apparently using drones, although some of the shots defy explanation. I had read some articles about Marc-Andre, but I was not aware that he had died in an avalanche in 2018 until I watched the film. Marc-Andre was famed as a solo climber, so it is ironic that he perished on a climb where he was roped to a climbing partner. My wife and daughter had always viewed my climbing trips with skepticism. After watching The Alpinist I am sure they now believe I am completely crazy.
