Juanito Oiarzabal is climbing independantly of the rest of the Basque team with whom he shares a permit. He has his own high altitude sherpa and porters.

Following Italian Silvio "Gnaro" Mondinelli last year and American Ed Viesturs in 2005, Ivan also became only the seventh mountaineer in the world to have done them all without supplementary oxygen. Iván Vallejo logra sus 14 Ochomiles (1ro de Mayo del 2008)
