I'm buying Freddie Wilkinson's book instead - "One Mountain Thousand Summits: The Untold Story Tragedy and True Heroism on K2". I'm pretty sure Graham Bowley's book is fine, but I much prefer reading an account told from a climber's perspective.

Second what DMT said, but for in case it is not clear, both Bowley and Wilkinson's books cover the same events of 2008. I will probably read Bowley's book as well, but am going to buy Freddie's book retail, and maybe wait for Bowley's book to come in paperback or into libraries.

I'm trying to read this book right now. I tell you, the writing is not all that great.

I've just finished Graham Bowley's "No Way Down" . I think that it is an inadequate account of the events that took place on K2 .Contrary to his assertion in the books Authors Note ,his objectivity and distance from the events are not an advantage that somehow overcomes his complete ignorance of climbing .
I've just sent for Freddie Wlikinson's book and hope it does a better job.

man, it just seems like there are at least ten books on this and K2's earlier tragedies now - at least. Greg Child's (as usual, superb) 'Dangerous Summer' was the first i'd read, and now there's another rush. it is harrowing and fascinating reading, but i can't help but hope that the authors were participants in some regard, and aren't just cashing in on others' misfortunes, however thrilling the reading. my two.

I just read it yesterday morning. Y'all have probably heard the story before, from those with greater expertise. It doesn't stand out among the alternative.
