Royal Robbins RIP

Just heard that Royal Robbins passed away yesterday. Royal was the American Legend of the 20th Century climbing. He was at the development of big wall Yosemite techniques and over the years always understood where the next level of the world of climbing was. He was lifelong member of the Sierra Club and Honorary member (among many others) of the RCS and SCMA in Southern California. For me he was a towering figure of the world of climbing when I was just a teen in the 60s in far away Czechoslovakia. Many years later, I had the honor to meet him many times through the RCS and SCMA activities. My condolences to his family and to his many friends world-wide. Alois Smrz, Idyllwild, CA.

I just watched Valley Uprising last night (again), lots of him in that movie.
and was telling my GF what a hero he was to me and glad that I met him many years ago.
