Anyone have any recommendations for a decent hotel at a resonable price. So far all those I've looked at are $200US per night! Seems a bit high.

Thanks for any ideas.

Inexpensive and Lucerne probably exclude each other. But a quick check on www.hrs.com shows a few hotels in the 110 US-$ range. Including the Best Western. Obviously depends on travel date a lot. Swiss hotels and restaurants are quite expensive compared to most of the other european countries. Regards, Peter.

You might as well try www.bnb.ch, possibly there's some decent Bed&Breakfast in town.

Romerhaus is a place a mile or two down the lake from the town center (just a block or two further than the transportation museum). It's used for conferences and they rent out the rooms when nothing is going on. Clean rooms, although concrete and dorm like, great breakfast and free parking (we had a car) for like a $110 a night. There is a Migros right across the street also. Great place if your passing through. Staff was also very friendly.

Lucerne, like most other cities have plenty of low cost hotels. they are not going to be the ones that have an advertising budget. When you get there talk to some cabbies.

Thanks to all for your ideas and recommendations. Following your advice, I was able to book a nice accomodation for a reasonable rate.
