If somebody knows where to stay in Chamonix or near places in christmas - new year period, please give us an advise. we're going for climbing and looking for cheepest variant.

We stayed for a week last Jan 2005 in Cham, travelling through to Italy to Ice climb, we based ourselves in Cham a place called Vagabond, sort of a bunk house with a bar attached, very very basic a little run down but affordable, 5 mins walk from town centre.

You have to book a room in advance and its very popular with climbers and snowboarders.

I am looking for accomodation in Chamonix in July-August. Anything else than this in case they are full?
This seems pretty convenient though. It just that it is hard to book in advance cause it is impossible to say when you will be on the mountains and when in the town?
