Yes this is really shocking. Cyrill was the most enthusiastic climber I knew. I never met him personally but we had often contact about the SP pages. I always asked him when I needed advice about swiss mountains. His wife Tania was a congenial partner for him. We intended to climb some mountains together but sadly this did not happen - since last summer because of my bone fracture. On various occasions he warmly inquired about the healing process. I really will miss him and we all will miss one of the greatest mountain lovers

I don't spend much time on this here forum but I have read most of Cyrill's material. He contributed alot - I read about it in a swiss newspaper and I was genuinely shocked to recognise the name of someone caught up in this accident when I saw it on SP. Really terrible news and a great loss. My heart goes out to their families and friends (and Brutus' too). What a dangerous passion mountains can be.

It really shocked me with Cyrill and Tanja!

I had contact with him just before he get very active at SP in the last 2 years. We mailed since some years since we first had contact at www.bergsteigen.at .
We were also talking about a climb together. But now it won´t be possible anymore.
He loved the mountains so much and was really happy to share this passion with his wife Tanja. My sincere condelence to all of their family.
They shall rest in peace! We keep them in our mind! Thanks for all your contributions at SP, Cyrill!

I fondly remember Cyrill when he posted his website on Personal Websites under the name of Digitalis. Here in German are comments from Gipfeltreffen

Very sorry to hear this. I didn't know Cyrill, but he sounds like he was a great guy. While we all know the dangers the mountains present (a siren's call, of sorts...), & accidents like this will and do happen, it doesn't lessen the tragedy when it does... My condolences to friends, family, and loved ones of Tanja, Cyrill, and their friend. RIP.

I can't believe this. I never spoke to him personally but I know he was a big fish on SP, and had a large and impressive climbing climbing CV. Very sad, RIP.

Very sad times. I learned about the hikr website from Cyril (digitalis). Lots of trips to mtns such as Obergablehorn, Mont Blanc de Cheilon, and many peaks around the Bernina.
