Conditions in the Bernina Range

Can anybody provide actual information about the conditions in the Bernina Range?
Sebastian and me are planing to do Piz Palü and Piz Bernina the weekend after this weekend. At the moment we are kind of not sure if it is better to use ski than going by foot.
Does anybody have actual information or has anybody recently been up there? The webcam at Diavolezza shows there´s still much snow.
Has anybody been at the Marco e Rosa winterroom lately? I read that you should bring your own stove, because there´s no possibility to light a fire there?
