no, not in Dolomites, but a very fine rock climbing spot, very little known

no, in an area very popular for "big-long" hiking (in the Alps, of course), well known by Deutsch hikers (I found there many)

Fagnano means lazy in the local dialect. I lived not far from there for three years back in the seventies.

this is a range I know very little ... had always in my mind to go and climb there but all I've been able to do (recently) was a simple (not long) hike

That would be a case of the blind leading the one-eyed, I'm afraid. I still have a collection of 120 maps of itineraries in the province, but that's it. No pictures and surprisingly few memories. In those three years, I went more often to the Dolomites than to the local mountains. Of course, now I regret it, but it's a bit too late.

dolomia is, doubtless, better than quarzite (new clue) ...
nemo propheta in patria sounds true also for mountains
