I see our CO friends always do a yearly winter gathering. Wonder if there is something similar for Cali?

If no, would there be any interest in it? Suggestions? Comments? Could be fun...

The first battle would be which end of CA to hold the gathering. :?
I'd say since YOU (Bruno) brought it up, the gathering most certainly should be held in SoCal.

We could always pick a Sierra Peak that would be doable; then it's sort of halfway ;)

Could be a good location as access will be better than the eastern sierra in winter. Alta Peak, Silliman, ... something in that area could probably work?

UBSL or Iceberg Lake on Mt. Whitney. It isn't THAT long of a drive for the Northern folks. :D

Uhhhh......snore! Whitney Schmitney.....abused and reused. I'll vote for Silliman.....a bit longer of a slog and albeit new to alot of folks!

Well, I was thinking, it should probably be appropriate for most skill levels. J-Tree would be more of a rock climbing thing...

There ya go! Tollhouse seems fitting for a half way point. A good place for non-technical climbers to learn the ropes. Double my vote for Tollhouse.

I'll get my stop watch out of moth balls just for you Randy! :D

Long drive to TH!

I actually did a bit of soloing a few weeks back. First time in a while! We might need that stopwatch! :D

That wouldn't be much of a winter gathering anyway. A sunny day in February sounds more like it :D

Snowshoes, crampons, ice axe, mmmmm...

I'd like to go to Tollhouse Rock.

But Thanksgiving weekend would be a deal breaker, as my family expects me to be around this year...
