Sharperblue,

I hiked up as far as Blue Lake last Thursday, October 22. We didn't try to go up any farther. There was not much snow until above 10,000 feet. Above that there were places in the shade where the snow was still more than a foot deep, but mostly consolidated. Please post about conditions when you get back.

thx!

Conditions are just about as posted previously: snow dustings from 8500', about 12" at 10k, consolidated, no avy danger, no snow shoes req'd - yet. gaiters recommended but not yet mandatory.

Quick day trip ascent on Sunday 01 Nov. Sadly ran behind schedule and ditched the NW arete in favor of direct east face, crampons & axe as usual, excellent styrofoam all the way up, tho. That was actually a much more enjoyable climb than expected. fabby up high under that moon :)
