hey guys! :)

i was trying to reesearch tyo find the sickest mountainboard descents in Cali

Among other thins I m trying to find out if I can shred in wilderness zones, would be a total downer if i got fined for mountainboarding - (mountainboarding is not a crime)

regardless, i was thinking a shred descent of the whitney trail would be the illst. rumblin down trailcrest, down the switchers, whoo whooooo

another descent I am considering is half dome kind of by the cables and maybe tenaya peak have these been shredded before? :D :D :D

the potential of the sierra for rock climbing and shredding of snow is so high and i thin that expanding upon that ppotential in a new waywould be somethng that could be sooooo cool

Hey Scraper. Not to be a bitch....well, maybe...but, do you normally hike/climb mountains taller than 5,000'? I'm sure you can some across some relatively mundane trails to ride down, but how are you at dealing with terrain, conditions, obstacles, weather, and navigation to get up a mountain? Have you been on Whitney's trail? Not terribly smooth, straight or safe for falling off of.
Can probably bet that it would be illegal, and extremely irresponsible to ride down Half Dome's cable route with hundreds of people climbing up and down. Think about it.....safety for all, not just you.
Too much snow in Sierra now, why don't you do Devil's Backbone on Baldy first, or maybe Vivian Creek Trail off of Gorgonio? :)

Dude, sorry but you can only board where bikes are allowed. Let me help you with your research.

Here's what it says on the NPS website:
"All pets are prohibited.
Bicycles, strollers, and any mechanized transport are prohibited.
Fishing is permitted with a valid California fishing license. All pertinent California state fishing regulations apply.
Fires are permitted with a wilderness permit in wilderness areas, unless otherwise noted. No additional fire permit is needed. However, fires are only allowed in existing fire rings, and prohibited above 9,600 feet in elevation (gas stoves are ok). Use dead and down wood only. Do not burn any trash, including toilet paper.
Motorized equipment is prohibited."
http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/wildregs.htm

I'm pretty sure a mountain board would fall into the "any mechanized transport" catagory.

I am thinking anything in a wilderness area would be out. That board looks like it would be fun. To bad I can't skateboard on a flat street even if I had training wheels and bubble rap.

Have you done the classic road descents?

120 is my favorite ride of all time.

168 is a close second.

I bet Glacier Lodge would rock as would Rock Creek.

Does your mountain board have a brake? I could see that as being the major problem since trails are not wide enough to slarve around and scrub speed.

And wilderness runs might get your board confiscated and a big fine. Not fun. Stick to the roads (dirt or paved) and enjoy freedom!

If you find yourself in the BLC, give a shout and we'll show you the tour de kingdom. 10k worth of runs you can do in a day utilizing bus, bikes, walking, and some car shuttling.

got three diff hills right outside my garage that go at 45+. nothing like the long ass mtn roads east side, but not bad for being urban and right outside your door. perfect asphalt too.

all buzzed up and about to go push it.
