Hi folks,
In September 2011 Lake County opened its newest (and largest) county park: Mt. Konocti County Park.
There is now public access to Mt. Konocti's summit via a 3-4 mile trail.

Got friends up there. Tried a westerly approach years ago and got confronted by a stone cold local with big barking dogs. None too friendly. It kinda felt like a scene out of 'Deliverance'. Was more than happy to retrace my steps. The only thing missing was a shotgun.
I did get to the main summit at a later date by some obscure northside trail out of a Soda Bay neighborhood. I don't know it I could find it again.
It's got some fine views of Clear Lake and the surrounding Mayacamas, definitely a worthwhile hike.
