Has anybody been on the North Peak Couloir lately? I don’t really care whether it’s snow or ice. I just don’t want to have to go elsewhere because of mud and falling rock like last year. Thanks for any information you may have.

A friend of mine climbed it about 10 days ago. Firm snow all the way, no ice.

Right couloir is all snow, not much loose rock recently (some of the approach might still get mushy if you leave late). Middle and left are slightly less full.

Thank you! I'll probably try it in a few days.

Not sure how useful this is, but I was up there on July 4, and snowboarded both the left and right North Peak chutes. Zero exposed ice, decent riding conditions. Here are some pics of the coverage then, I imagine it's a little thinner now a week later.

Had the little flag since it was the 4th of July! To celebrate, I rode 4 chutes on the 4th (the 2 NP ones, and 2 of the Kook chutes further down on the shoulder). Made it back to the boat dock just in time to catch the last boat taxi of the day! Good way to spend the 4th. :)

I went up the right couloir this morning. Lots of snow with no ice showing. The route had many holes where somebody had shoved an axe handle in. It’s too firm for that now.

Rocks in the left couloir are worse than in the above photo.
