Shasta looks like a decent idea, I will have to get more info on some shasta skiing.

Hoping to find a couple of places maybe to hit, on the way up and down.

So I am guessing aside from Tioga area stuff, theres nothing really else south of that...

Don't you read that if little or nothing is done, average temps will rise 10 degrees by 2100? 100's have died in Russia, just now, it might get into the 1000's later on, even here. Doesn't it feel good to be doing good? Aren't future generations worth anything? Would you rather be soundly cursed as far as enviro history? Get a Chevy Cobalt, if not very great for bad roads, you'll save money and gas/planet. My next car maybe if they haven't come out with affordable hydrogen fuel cell. Those small cars are a blast to drive!

Hmmmm... I'd like to, but too much on my plate to save the world. Especially when one person in my position cannot make a difference. These things really have to be addressed on a macro scale. One person doing something alone is a good way to get no where fast.

But I would probably have a prius- for other reasons- if they made high clearance 4x4 ones. As it is skiing and hiking are more important, so the Tacoma rules.

One hell of an approach but is the Lyell glacier ski-able? If you'll spend many hours getting far north, ya might as well enjoy it and hike instead, right ?

3 weeks ago it was plenty big enough (and at least a 1500 ft descent) but more suncupped than I think you would want.

I'm a euro, so I buy German only . Japs are probably more reliable but I L-O-V-E German vehicles!! The only American I would buy is a truck; all the rest is garbage IMO. There's a rumor the American vehicles are making a comeback though (quality wise), so we'll see.

BMW makes the best cars in the world, by some, but too $$$$ for me. Lucky to be rich. They don't make computers or digital cameras, so what quality technology do you get? My area is filled with foreign car repair shops, though they'll work on any make/brand. I have to get to where I am going, with minimal cost and to the planet.

Hope that comeback rumor is true, I'm getting a Chevy if not a Nissan.

I have a nose for great deals; I have a VW, BMW and Merc and none of them cost more than an average Civic .

Buick seems to be the biggest surprise; they are actually bringing out models with a manual now! The new Ford Fiesta should be pretty good as well. So, the intention is there; time will tell if they hold up.

Its just gonna be a drive up and hit what worth looks good I guess! I do appreciate the ideas and pics posted. Its going to be cool to keep the 2010 'campaign' going. I havent skiied since July 5th, and am so ready and wanting to ski again
