Wow, Martha does know her stuff. :) Had to look that up, as I thought it was a Peter, Paul, and Mary song. It was, they sang it and made it a hit, but, as Martha stated, it was John Denver who wrote it. Good one, Martha.
Bye Lolli, and happy trails!

Oh Martha.

If I ever get to Colorado you sure are going to have to get your John Denver music out!

Wonderful singer.

In fact both John Denver, and Peter Paul and Mary sang that particular song.

Here is my Dingus style trip report of the hike up Barnabe Mountain that Lolli and I did on Tuesday 10-20-2009.

Image

Dingus said this is where I will end up if anything bad happens to Lolli. I was scared.

I think we were being followed.

Lolli demonstrates the correct way to enjoy a great view.

See great views.

Eventually we headed back down.

We went down via Bill's Trail. It was like walking trough a jungle. But we were kinda creeped out by the lack of birds.

If? IF? No, Bryan it's a matter of when. You are welcome here any time and the invitation is officiallly offered.

John Denver was ghost writer for a number of recognized songs. When you come to CO we'll go to Aspen and walk through his memorial.

You're not the only one to whom I made that perfectly clear haha. But you knew that too.

I did. I had the picture and I couldn't resist. I knew you would take it well.

Thank you so much Martha. The thought of walking with you in that wonderful area you live in, AND paying my respects to such a great singer has brought tears to my eyes.

PS. More tears! Despite having such an incredible schedule Lolli still found time to write me a postcard. It's just arrived. Written in the plane when she was flying down to Denver to meet with you Martha!

OOh. Floods of tears now. Read the card and Lolli is suggesting that Half Dome, (photo of that on the card she has sent me), in Yosemite is something she and I could walk up? Gulp!

Bring lolli and MarthaP with you too! Its a long walk with some steep stairs at the end, no big deal!

Awesome! I've hiked that trail many times. It's well worth the visit, especially in such superb company.

Bryan, I actually had the pleasure of getting to know John a bit before he died. I was working in Carmel (for Clint Eastwood) and John would come by the property quite frequently. He crashed his plane into the ocean not a mile from my house in Pacific Grove. I still grieve his death - he was such a truly good man.

Oh Martha.

Sent you an email. Got too emotional to post here. Didn't want to mess up Lolli's thread.

It was great meeting you Lolli. Be back soon and often!
I'll be calling you the next time I'm in Europe.

It's totally another thing to stay with people, instead of in hotels. One gets much closer to normal life, and the people one meets. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

And if you find your way to my corner of Europe, you're very welcome.

Be careful what you say. We might all show up at the same time. And of course you are welcome back here anytime.
